Intercultural Summer Camp in Spohns Haus Youth Hostel, Saarland
The trinational youth camp at the Spohns Haus ecological school hostel in Gersheim is considered Germany's largest youth exchange project between Poland, Ukraine and Germany and takes place annually in the first two weeks of the Saarland summer holidays. This year, the camp took place from July 25th to August 5th. It has become a tradition for many young people, some of whose parents work for the Hager Group in the above mentioned countries. Many of the 13- to 18-year-olds have been taking part for several years in a row now, which results in many longterm friendships.
With the support of the Peter und Luise Hager Foundation, the participation fee is kept low. Accommodation, meals, supervision, excursions and workshops are included in the fair price.
The two-week programme was packed with excursions and joint activities this year: day trips to Paris, language courses, graffiti courses with the well-known graffiti artist Reso from the Saarland and much more.
One day is traditionally organised by the Peter und Luise Hager Foundation. After a presentation of the company and the Foundation as well as a factory tour at the Hager Group headquarters in Blieskastel, the group was able to put its climbing skills to the test at the Saar Adventure Park in Jägersburg, Homburg. In the evening, we had a barbecue together, followed by a musical and dance performance by the Ukrainian group "Sbrutsch".
After a two-year break due to corona, Ukrainian participants were taking part again this year. We are happy that they could be part of it!
