Peter und Luise Hager-Award at the Saar Academy of Fine Arts and Design (HBKsaar)
Each year, the call for entries specifies a theme to be addressed artistically or creatively. The prizes are intended to promote the individual development of the students in the long term. In addition, the awarding of prizes is intended to address a broad public for the aesthetic development potential of the Saar region.
In the winter semester of 2021/22, students were invited to submit their interpretations of the theme "Not Doing" (original German title "Nicht-Tun"). The jury viewed a total of 54 submissions and selected ten finalists.
Due to the Corona pandemic, the exhibition opening and ceremony of the Peter und Luise Hager-Award 2022 will only took place on a small scale on 11 February in the HBKsaar Gallery. The jury selected three winners from the ten finalists, all of whom were present. The award ceremony could be followed in a live stream.
This year's finalists are: Carlos Alberto Molina Castillo, Céline Gieseler, Jihoon Jung, Ivan Labalestra, Sarah Niecke, Johee Oh, Sandra Romina Pölger, Marika Pyrszel, Irina Schulze and Yining Tang.
This year's jury members include Evi Hager and Susanne Trockle (Peter und Luise Hager Foundation), Dr Andrea Weber (Saarländische Galerie, Berlin), Dr Sebastian Baden (Kunsthalle Mannheim) and from the HBKsaar Prof. Dr Matthias Winzen, Prof. Ivica Maksimovic and Prof. Georg Winter.
The Exhibition of the Peter und Luise Hager-Award 2022 is open from 15 to 25 February 2022, Tuesday to Friday from 5 to 8 pm, in the HBKsaar Gallery.
