Peter und Luise Hager-Award at the Saar Academy of Fine Arts and Design (HBKsaar)
The exhibition in the Gallery of the Saar Academy of Fine Arts and Design with artworks from Marius Buck, Miriam Dockendorf, Julia Gerhards, Seokjin Hong, Jihoon Jung, Hwakyeong Kim, Kyungju Kim, Polina Trishkina and Felicitas Zenke was open to visitors for two weeks thereafter.
From July 29th to August 28th, 2021, the artworks will be exhibited at the Saarländische Galerie in Berlin.
Since 2012, the Peter und Luise Hager Foundation, together with the Saar Academy of Fine Arts and Design (HBKsaar), has been awarding prizes to outstanding students of the HBKsaar for their artistic and design projects and developments.
The task of the current competition was the artistic and creative examination of the topic "knowledge". The media with which the topic could be presented or dealt with were freely chosen by the students. The competition entries were correspondingly diverse, reflecting, for example, the examination of knowledge in digital space, emotional truths or technical-scientific aspects of knowledge.
From all the submissions, a jury selected ten positions that can now be seen in an exhibition in the HBKsaar gallery. The three best works were awarded with 1,000 euros each. All other participants in the exhibition received an allowance of 500 euros each.
Since many students have lost their part-time jobs due to the crisis, the Foundation adjusted the usual endowment and donated part of the award money to the Corona Emergency Aid Fund of the General Students' Committee (AStA) of the HBKsaar to support students in financial need. Management Board member Susanne Trockle handed over the cheque to Prof. Gabriele Langendorf, rector of the HBKsaar, and Joas Strecker, former AStA chairman, in July 2020 (from left to right).

2. Prize: 1,000 euros - Seokjin Hong "Drin" (Light installation)
3. Prize: 1,000 euros - Marius Buck "DaVinciPowerHammer" (Installation)
