Therapeutic riding in Portugal
Therapeutic horseback riding for physically and/or mentally handicapped children
In Cascais, Portugal, Associaçao Hipica Terapeutica has been offering therapeutic horseback riding for physically and/or mentally handicapped people since 1990.
About 80 participants use the offer of assisted riding - a sport that not only improves flexibility and body awareness, but also strengthens self-confidence. The Peter and Luise Hager Foundation stepped in after many parents found themselves unable to pay for their children's riding classes in the wake of the financial crisis.
We are happy to be supported us on a voluntary basis by some Hager Portugal employees and we also thank the volunteers of the AHT association, who take care of the riders and the horses.
